Florida Migrant Education Program (Title I, Part C)

Purpose:

The purpose of Suwannee County School District’s Migrant Education Program (Title I, Part C) is to support the educational process of migrant students and assist them in overcoming the challenges of mobility, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, and other difficulties associated with a migratory lifestyle. These efforts are aimed at helping migrant students succeed in school and successfully transition to postsecondary education and/or employment.

Funds provided by Title I, Part C-Migrant Education Program (MEP) assist Suwannee County School District in providing additional educational programs for migrant children (ages 3-21) who face academic and social challenges due to their frequent moves.

Funds received by the district are specifically used for:

  • Identification and recruitment of migratory children (ages 3-21)
  • Instructional and support services
  • Identification and Recruitment (ID & R) training
  • Interstate and intrastate coordination
  • Advocacy
