Superintendent's Message Regarding Foodservice

March 18, 2022 - March 23, 2022

Dear Suwannee County Community!

This flyer has been produced in an effort to dispel the social media keyboard warriors and break-room gossipers, who would have you believe the Suwannee County School District is trying to harm employees or the school foodservice program. We are in fact trying to improve the quality of our foodservice program for everyone; especially, our students who are number 1!

Thank you for taking the time to review the facts! Look at the pictures, video and menu links, from actual on-site school foodservice visits, that I along with other staff have personally made over the past several years. ALL of the pictures are taken by us, on an actual onsite visit, during the foodservice operations of a regular school day! This is NOT a flyer produced by Sodexo.

Know that it is the intent of my administration to bring a better, more consistent foodservice program to you our customers, as the students, faculty, staff, and visitors who frequent our campuses. We have visited numerous Florida School districts in person, over several years, in examining how we can better provide foodservices to you!

Our School Board will either accept or reject the proposal to improve our services to you our customers. They are  charged to act on facts and make decisions based upon the evidence as it is presented, and not on emotion. Approved by the Board or not, I am confident that the correct decision will be made. I am of the strong opinion, based on the feedback that we have received from you our customers, that a new direction is needed. EVERY child deserves the chance EVERY day to have a tasty, well presented, MENU of options from which to choose. ALL of our kids, not just the ones that can afford to pack their lunches each day, should WANT to eat in our cafeterias. That is the end goal! Our employees have done the best they can with what has been available to us. Our buying power, and the consistency in product in which we have struggled, can simply not be sustained in the ever-increasing competition for food products.

Thank you for your continued support in embracing a desire for continuous improvement!
