Suwannee FFA placed 3rd out of 10 teams represented at the Florida FFA District III Forestry career development event on October 10.

The event was at Florida Gateway College in Lake City, Florida. The forestry CDE works to test students' knowledge in a variety of forestry skills, such as dendrology (tree sample identification), forest disorders, common forestry tools and machinery, map interpretation, timber cruising and general forestry knowledge.

Students placing third on Suwannee's Senior Team A included: Kaleb Land, Katelyn Floyd, Dalton Croft and Cy Osteen. Land took home a third place high individual ribbon in the area of timber cruising, while Floyd also ranked third highest individual in the forest disorders division.

According to SHS FFA Advisor, Sarah Trimm, says the other members competing did an excellent job, as well. These members were Colton Huntsman, Will Wood, Caleb Creamer and Kade Humphries.

Suwannee Jr. FFA team competitors were Morgan Larney, Faith Melendez, and Chloee Sanders.

Trimm says, “We are extremely proud of our teams with their dedication and work ethic. We continuously work to build our FFA program and we expect great things out of all of our FFA students now, and in years to come. Carrying on the Suwannee Bulldog Pride is what we strive for, each and every time our students zip up their crisp, blue corduroy jackets. We are Suwannee proud.”
