The Suwannee County School District Food Services Department is constantly looking for ways to improve the dining experience for students in the school district, and this year is no different. For the 2017-2018 school year, Branford High School (BHS) will have a senior lounge on campus.

The BHS senior lounge is an existing building that has been specifically renovated for the seniors dining on campus. According to the Director of Food Services, Lisa Dorris, the food truck will pull up right next to the building with a window that opens up into the building for seniors to get their food. Dorris says the food truck will be in BHS school colors.

This BHS senior lounge comes one year after Suwannee High School (SHS) received their senior lounge. SHS saw a massive increase of seniors remaining on campus during lunchtime, and Dorris wants to see the same happen at BHS. Dorris says, “We are hoping the lounge will increase participation on campus. When we made the senior lounge at SHS, it increased senior participation on campus by 27 percent. SHS absolutely loves that lounge; it is full every day for both lunches. We are hoping BHS students do the same with their lounge.”

Dorris knows none of this would be possible without the work of Mark Carver and his Facilities Department staff. Dorris says, “Facilities has done so much to help us. They always do, but they were a huge help with the senior lounge.”
