Today, Thursday, May 4th, there has been an increased law enforcement presence, to alleviate the anxiety of students, parents, faculty, staff, and the community, due to rumors of an active school assailant threat at Suwannee Middle School.
There is no known credible threat at this time. Law enforcement, school and district administration continue to monitor any information that could lead to the source of this rumor, that has sought to cause disruption and stress to the educational environment.
Again, there is no credible threat. Thank you for your cooperation and patience, as controlling rumors and social media is an impossible task. Should there be any further developments that require parental and community notification, an additional statement will be issued.
The Suwannee County School District and the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office remain committed to providing optimal security of all of our school campuses.
