Branford High School (BHS) attended the Florida State Beta Convention in Orlando, Florida.
Beta Club is a service and honor organization that follows the motto, "Lead by Serving Others".
Thirteen students competed in various academic, artistic, speech contests, and engineering competitions over the weekend. The Engineering Team, consisting of Seth Humphries, Ethan Humphries, Seth Ramsey, Cash Blalock and Aiden McCall, competed against 12 other schools from around the state to construct a Rube Goldberg machine within a 2-hour period. BHS Engineering Team placed 1st earning them the opportunity to compete at National Convention this summer in Nashville, Tennessee from July 1-4, 2022.
Several other students also placed at the state level earning the opportunity to competition at the next level this summer at nationals. Cash Blalock placed 2nd in 11th grade science, Maya Brown placed 2nd in 9th grade math and Ari Miles placed 2nd in 11th grade language arts.
Branford also had several talented art students shine at state convention. Ainsley Irby placed 3rd in the Onsite Painting competition as well as Braxton Young, 1st place in recycled art and Ari Miles, 3rd in woodworking.
