The Suwannee County School District held its district wide Spelling Bee on January 19, 2018 in the board meeting room.

Six students represented their school as the “school champion.” The school champions who participated in the district spelling bee were:

Taylor Smith – Branford High School

Saige Sanchez – Suwannee Middle School

Primaya Johnson – Suwannee Intermediate School

Ashlyn Blalock – Branford Elementary School

Isabella Baldwin – Melody Christian Academy

Cassie Clay – Westwood Christian School

After 25 rounds of spelling words, Isabella Baldwin outlasted Taylor Smith to win the district spelling bee.

Baldwin and Smith will represent Suwannee County at the regional spelling bee on March 9, 2018 held at the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville, Florida. The start time for the regional spelling bee is to be announced. The regional spelling bee will air live on Channel 4.
