Suwannee High School’s (SHS) NJROTC cadets won the Wildcat Spirit Award on September 17, 2016, at Winter Park High School.

NJROTC participated in the Wildcat Event with 14 other schools from the state of Florida. NJROTC LT. Senior Naval Science Instructor Debra Kleinsmith says, “This tournament is about coming together to teach teamwork, meet other schools, and interact with their cadets.”

At the end of the event, SHS was awarded the Wildcat Spirit Award due to their sportsmanship to the other teams competing. According to Kleinsmith, this event is at the beginning of the year and is a great way to kick off the year. Kleinsmith says, “This is a great event to get our new cadets involved. It is like an ice breaker in a way.”
