Suwannee Elementary School (SES) students attended the 2017 Fall Harvest on November 2, 2017 at the Suwannee Valley Agriculture Extension Center.
UF Extension agent De Broughton and 4H Agents for Suwannee and Madison Counties had stations set up for the students and taught them about agricultural crops such as sweet potatoes and pumpkins.
Teachers received bags of sweet potato chips for students to sample once we returned to school. Students also went through a "corn maze" and learned about the 4H organization as well as crops that are grown along with corn.
Following the presentations, students were allowed to pick their own pumpkin from the different crops. They were also allowed to pick a sweet potato from plants that had already been dug up.
